“Whenever you start guiding yourself by caring about how you feel, you start guiding yourself back into your Stream of Source Energy, and that’s where your clarity is; that’s where your joy is; that’s where your flexibility is; that’s where your balance is; that’s where your good ideas come from. That’s where all the good stuff is accessed from.” ~ Abraham-Hicks
That Stream Source Energy is a part of us–it’s the spark of divinity that connects us to everything else in the Universe. Sometimes it’s flowing freely and man, does that feel good. We feel vibrantly alive. We find ourselves in serendipitous moments with opportunities, helpful people, green lights, and free lunches falling before us. Other times that energy is blocked–be it by physical ailments, poor lifestyle choices, or simply our lack of connecting to it.
It has been proven that prayer and meditation awaken parts of the brain that are otherwise shut off. Quieting our minds on a regular basis increases the flow of body chemicals through our physical systems, but also puts us back in the flow with our life-force energy and that of the planet. It’s not a frivolous thing to be still, to rest, to put your feet up, to enjoy some quiet time alone…it’s a requirement! I give you permission! It’s cliche now, but it’s true: taking this time for yourself is going to make you better for everyone else. It’s the whole “breathing from the oxygen mask first before helping the person seated next to you.”
Stillness. Hard to prioritize in our lives but so essential to our health, our peace, our creativity, and our connectedness. Start becoming aware. First of the amount of time you allow in your day to just be still. Then, of the thoughts that pop in and out of your head. Your thoughts carry an energy of their own, so make sure your thoughts in these quiet moments align with the life you want to be living. If they don’t…flip ’em on their ass! Tell yourself a story in your quiet moments! A story involving positive, life-affirming thoughts! Then get quiet again and sit with how that feels.
This is not easy. It seems simple, but this is not how our society operates. And many of us have fears, anxieties, or even truths that make getting quiet very uncomfortable. The only way to navigate through this life with grace, this rich and beautiful life full of unknowns, challenges, blessings, catastrophes, huge wins, surprises, and monotony is by following the flow of this life-force energy. By getting grounded. By giving yourself the gift of stillness.
