In the days around the last New Moon I was pretty clear about what I wanted. I didn’t have to think hard about it or ponder anything’s significance…I just let it spill. I wrote it down, I read it and reread it. I wrote it on a leaf and cast it down the river. It was intentional, meaningful, and beautiful.
Then I went on with my life. I found myself in trying times a few times recalling these intentions, closing my eyes and recanting those words like a mantra. Speaking in the present tense, as if my intentions were my reality, guided me through those rough patches. And today, with a Full Moon upon us tonight, I found these intentions written down (as I was practicing “mindful design” in my studio–perfectly timed clutter-clearing).
We create obstacles for ourselves through our day-to-day human existence. It’s natural. Some of these obstacles are lies we tell ourselves, old patterns and beliefs. Some are based on societal pressures (“I should be…), and some are more deeply rooted by messages from a long, long time ago that have embedded themselves in our path. When you were young did anyone ever tell you you weren’t good enough, you couldn’t accomplish something, did they betray your trust, make you doubt yourself?
Watch a flowing stream and see how gently the water flows…until it hits a big rock. It slams against it, splashes over it, rushes to the side of it. It stirs up the silt, unsettling the earth below. It impedes the easeful flow and causes chaos. These lies are causing chaos in your life. They’re f’ing up your flow.
Let’s move ’em!
The energy of the Full Moon absorbs the energy of what you release to it and turns it in to starlight. Flow is your natural state, and releasing the things that block you is an intentional action that brings you back to that gentle, easeful state. That current that holds you where you want to be.
Take some time this evening to think about what the boulders are that are causing chaos in your life. Don’t over-think it, just let it spill. Write it down–write it down under these words:
“I surrender this to the moon so more starlight will shine on my path:”
Read it, and reread it. Then step outside and burn it to ash, or cast it down a stream, or bury it in your garden.
SO BE IT.
