It is never ideal to have your work space in your bedroom. Each room in your home has a purpose, sometimes several. In thinking of the true intention for a bedroom, we strive to create a serene, restful space. We might chose to give it a sensual vibe, or pay attention to lighting so it can be a comfortable place to read. But having our home office in the same place where we are supposed to recharge and rejuvenate ourselves each evening is counter-productive.
That being said, sometimes combining spaces is unavoidable. I love cozy abodes, but they don’t always make following the guidelines of feng shui easy. This picture is a really cool solution for an office space that is in a bedroom. The hanging curtain/partial fabric wall serves to block the “business” energy from the bedroom. And on the flip side, a luxurious bed right next to your desk could be quite a distraction, especially when burning the midnight oil to meet a deadline or cram for a final.
There are ways to overcome almost any challenge to “mindful design” so don’t fret! Rules are meant to be be broken, or at least worked around creatively!
